Mother Mother & Wooden Sky

I saw Mother Mother and Wooden Sky this weekend. Both acts played great, I think Wooden Sky sounded better but they didn`t have any technical difficulties like Mother Mother. You know what`s weird?...I`ve never talked about the Beta Band before. I thought I have but after doing a search threw my posts, The Beta Band never shows up. Regardless I always had a thing for the Beta Band and I`m sure you do too. Thanksgiving Weekend!

So this weekend was the long Thanksgiving weekend up here in Canada....and thank God too. I needed a break from the everyday grind. It gave me a lot of time to listen to some old favourites as well as some new albums. I wanna first leave ya my favourites from Belle & Sebastian`s Dear Catastrophe Waitress. I pulled out a bunch of B&S this weekend but Dear Catastrophe Waitress got the most spins. Its one of those albums I didn`t appreciate until years after its release. I also got a chance to swallow the new + - (Plus Minus) record. RELEASE NOTES: After the break up of Girlfriendo, Josephine (vocals, keyboards), Nicholaus (guitar, vocals) and Markus (drums), Johan (bass) and Fredrik (saxophone) formed Love Is All, and debuted in 2006 with Nine Times That Same Song. They are currently signed to the New York-based indie label Whats Your Rupture?. They also have been featured on the renowned BBC radiocast Peel Sessions 2004. Their profile was raised significantly after a string of well-received US tourdates in March 2006, culminating in a sold-out headlining spot in New York, and they supported British band Maxmo Park on their UK tour in October 2006. Sox & Sebastien

So the Red Sox series has been keeping me up late at night....again. Its really my own fault...The game went to 12 innings the other night and instead of going to bed early and getting some much needed rest...I stayed up....Friggin awesome series man, the other ones have been a little bit of a bore but not this one. Can`t wait for the Boston & Tampa Bay ALCS.....also Mr Sebastian Grainger (ex Death From Above 1979 drummer) has a muchly anticipated solo disk being dropped at the end of this month. If your thinking DFA then think again, it sounds nothing like his last band. Good for you Sebastien for moving on, hopefully soon people will recognize ya as a great solo artist and not an ex from a short lived band...I also have to mention that I saw Carrie Underwood last night with my wife. Starting Off Slow.....

Finally the move is over...now comes years of organizing and fixing things. All is well of course and its now time to get back into this blog....I apologize once again, its been a really busy couple months and between a new Wife, Dog and Home I havn`t had any time at all to put into this blog. Its even been awhile since I saw any good concerts. I did see Plants & Animals a couple weeks ago and they were mind blowing. The new music around here has been slim , but I have really been enjoying the new Land Of Talk album. I agree with Pitchfork that it sounds a lot like Metric in some parts, but that`s alright with me....I will be back full-time starting monday....Stay tuned....CN Plants & Animals - Lola Who?
