.......Yawn
I find myself exhausted today....(I stayed up to watch the World Series)...so this will be short. I have 1 good Photo from the Rogue Wave show last weekend.....it was awesome btw...and I have a few tracks from the new Saves The Day record. I`m still absorbing it myself so I don`t have much of a review........haha ...thats it..CN Saves The Day - Can`t Stay The Same Saves The Day - Head For The Hills Rogue Wave - In Your Eyes |

Brood & Creed
It got a little blurry last night at the Elliott Brood concert.....or Broodster as we call him in our camp (not really). I was sweatin to the oldies too...whatsup with this +25 weather in October? Anyway the Broodster played a good set, I had never seen him live before....and I wasn`t expecting such a loud sound out of 3 guys...1 with a banjo, the other playing acoustic guitar and bass (with his feet) and then a drummer Steve Pitkin (Who I happen to recognize from the old Flashing Lights) I think I found the best record today. Its an old Grass Roots LP.....WTF is The Grass Roots?...Well let me explain. I`m a huge Office fan and as it turns out the character Creed Bratton (real name) used to play in this band "The Grass Roots". Its very 60`s rock...but I laugh whenever I see the record....I had to take shots with the digi...sorry I couldn`t find any album art on the net...CN The Flashing Lights - Where Do The Days Go? N.L. Mailbox
When I first stared this blog I used to average about 1 promo disk a month.....Now I feel like I get a few CD`s every week. Which is totally awesome, I`m not complaining at all. But its starting to get a lil outta hand...Which brings me to the N.L. Mailbox (N.L. = Neiles Life) I`m thinking about starting a weekly/bi-weekly feature showcasing the best music that has hit my mailbox! Tempo No Tempo are a dance/rock outfit from the sunny state of California. Picture Bloc Party........without the British accents of course! Their Repetition EP is set to be released on Nov 13. In the mood for a lil country? Then Corb Lund may be what your looking for. I`m not usually a big fan of country, but the single Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier is actually decent. The album of the same name is set to be released on Nov 13 as well. I also have a track by an artist named Emily Jane White. I don`t know much about her but she also has a new album coming out in Nov. Wanna know more about these artists? You can visit their MySpace....CN |

Good To Sea!
Yes I did see Pinback this weekend @ The Opera House. Not my favourite venue in the world, but beggars can`t be choosers. It was well worth the $$ too, they played for over two hours. Ripping threw a ton of old material and playing a few new ones as well. There was a few jerks who thought that talking and being loud drunks was hilarious.....almost ruined the show for me.....but I out smarted them.......and moved. I would also like to say that Zach Smith is one hell of a bass player and was pretty much the show on Friday night.....I`m pretty excited about the music I`m leaving ya today cause I was in a lil bit of a Hip-Hop mood this weekend....3 of the tracks I highly recommend. The cover of "My Song" by The Streets is horrible though. Mike Skinner totally kills the song.....and I wanna vomit when I hear him attempt to sing in key...Stick to Hip-Hop Mike!....Aseop Rock, Ohmega Watts, and NAS all have new albums coming out this year (NAS=Greatest Hits), so be sure to grab them!..CN The Streets - Your Song (Elton John Cover) |

Say Hi.......................No More Mom?
Brooklyn`s own Say Hi To Your Mom have dropped the "To Your Mom" part of their name and have a new LP on the way....I personally like the name change, sounds more mature. Say Hi`s new album is called The Wishes And The Glitch. I`ve had a few listens now and its not a bad....its also a cheap pickup. The album can be bought for only $7 dollars at their site, for $28 you get the download, actual cd, t-shirt, and stickers!...CN TOUR DATES: 10-16-07 @ UC Davis Quad -- Davis, CA (All Ages) 10-17-07 @ Bottom Of The Hill -- San Francisco, CA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 10-18-07 @ The Troubadour -- Los Angeles, CA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 10-19-07 @ The Glasshouse -- Pomona, CA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 10-20-07 @ Plush -- Tucson, AZ; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (21+) 10-22-07 @ Hailey's --Denton, TX: with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 10-23-07 @ Emo's Alternative Lounge-- Austin, TX; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 10-24-07 @ The Proletariat -- Houston, TX; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (18+) 10-25-07 @ Red Star Bar -- Baton Rouge, LA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (18+) 10-26-07 @ Bottletree Cafe -- Birmingham, AL; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (18+) 10-27-07 @ The Earl -- Atlanta, GA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (21+) 10-28-07 @ Local 506 -- Chapel Hill, NC; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (21+) 10-29-07 @ Outback Lodge -- Charlottesville, VA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides 10-30-07 @ The Black Cat -- Washington, DC; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 11-01-07 @ Mojo 13 -- Wilmington, DE; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (21+) 11-02-07 @ Johnny Brenda's -- Philadelphia, PA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (21+) 11-03-07 @ The Knitting Factory -- New York, NY; with ;/span>The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 11-04-07 @ The Middle East Upstairs -- Boston, MA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (18+) 11-06-07 @ Zoobizarre -- Montreal, QC; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (18+) 11-07-07 @ Pepperjack Cafe -- Hamilton, ON; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides 11-08-07 @ Sneaky Dee's -- Toronto, ON; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (19+) 11-09-07 @ Subterranean -- Chicago, IL; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (18+) 11-10-07 @ Triple Rock Social Club -- Minneapolis, MN; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 11-11-07 @ The Slowdown -- Omaha, NE; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 11-12-07 @ The Hi-Dive -- Denver, CO; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (16+) 11-13-07 @ Kilby Court -- Salt Lake City, UT; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 11-15-07 @ The Crocodile Cafe -- Seattle, WA; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (All Ages) 11-17-07 @ Doug Fir Lounge -- Portland, OR; with The Velvet Teen & The A-Sides (21+) Buy "The Wishes And The Glitch" here: http://www.ilikesayhi.com/shop.htm Listen to clips and download some free MP3s here: http://www.ilikesayhi.com/music.htm |

Shut Up News.
Lots on the brain today....1st I gotta bitch about Pitchfork & Metacritic reviews of The Fiery Furnaces new LP Widow City......Are u kidding me??...A shitty 7 outta 10 from both sides??..Sorry guys but this album deserves a lot more then that. This is defiantly the Friedbergers best effort ....and I always hear something new whenever I listen. The vinyl was certainly worth it....some cute shots of Eleanor and....Lyrics!! Every song is beautifully crafted, and I wouldn`t be surprised if this record landed in my top 5 of 2007. \ I will be hitting the road this weekend.......yet again. I`m going to be checkin out Pinback @ The Opera House, which should be a blast....I already praised the new album last week, and I have gotten into their older material.....and am lovin it too! Speaking of older material...I`ve been doing a little Fall Cleaning, and I came across some good ol Canadian Indie Rock. Here`s what I found....CN |
