Man I think I found the happiest band on the planet...I somehow got listening to The Icicles yesterday (4 Femme Fatales and 1 Gentleman from Michigan), I love the harmonies, and their mix of upbeat tempo`s and "Dreamy" keyboards makes a super happy sound...Now that can be good or bad depending on what mood your in....In a great friggin mood??.......having the best day of your life? Then download The Icicles immediatly!!...Wanna kill yourself right after reading this blog???....then hold off for a bit. Field Music / Land Of Talk / Menomena

It was a battle of the 3 peice on Friday night at the El Mocambo..Which kinda shocked me..I didn`t know that all the bands only had 3 members. First it was Field Music who played a ton of songs of their new album "Tones Of Towns". I really enjoyed how the 2 brothers switched back and forth between drums, guitar, bass and singing duties! Next up was Land Of Talk, another 3 peice from Montreal. They also put on an impressive set, and am looking forward to their full length release. Coconut Records / Decemberists

Last I herd Jason Schwartzman had taken a little break from music to concentrate more of his time on movies. To be fair that was years ago, but I`ve always had a massive amount of respect for Jason...why?...1-Used to play Drums for Phantom Planet (u know the guys who sing the O.C. theme) 2-is a good actor as well and 3- I herd he played drums for Sloan once in L.A. when Andrew was sick...I wish I woulda been at that concert...anyway`s he has a new project out called Coconut Records. Which is a decent collection of pop-gems. Think Tahiti 80 or Phoenix (probably why it was an easy sell for me). Also the new Decemberists DVD came out yesterday, which is awesome for you who have a copy or have seen it...Me I have not ....but I did find a guy who ripped the tracks into Mp3 format (thanks to you if your reading). The sound quality is pretty decent too. Franz Ferdinand / Justice

So I have a new Franz Ferdinand track for ya....We`ll its not really new its a "Theme for a Scottish film called Hallam Foe" (taken from their Myspace page). Its a little different from the Franz I`m used to but in a good way. The lyrics are good as well...Also my buddy Kinger got me into Justice. An electronic duo from France. Brother in Conflict

So I had a full plate of the new Voxtrot album on the weekend. After the first bite, I wasn`t too pleased. The album didn`t have that spice that the first two EP`s had, but after repeated listens I find myself liking it more and more with every listen. I don`t have a favourite yet, and I don`t think I will. The album has some great moments on it.... but there is no standout tracks like "The Start Of Something". If you are a big Voxtrot fan like myself, there is enough good material to keep ya satisfyed...having said that....the final verdict leaves me giving it a 7/10...CN Voxtrot - Kid Gloves Voxtrot - Blood Red Blood <--First Single

Jewish Legends / Germans / Sebastien Grainger @ CTO

So I had the chance to check out Jewish Legends, the Germans, and Sebastien Grainger at Call The Office on Friday night. 3 bands all playing together with different names...kidding, but a lot of them did switch it up....Sebastien played drums with Jewish Legends as they started off the night..A lil bit different then what we would hear out of the Tangiers, and that isn`t a bad thing...A little dissapointed that Ian Mcgettigan didn`t make it out but Sebastien played well and it turned into a very groovy jam session!Germans were on next and put on a very loud and very impressive set....probably the best band of the night...It was also awesome to see the band members jump around from instrument to instrument, playing well at both too!Sebastien then took the stage and also played a loud set. There was some idoit cracking jokes about DFA, but other then that it was smooth sailing. I couldn`t understand the lyrics or anything he was saying though which sucked...I am going to give ya some Germans for your ears today...Please listen, its good shit!CN Germans - I Am The Teacher (<--Awsome Song) Germans - Natures Mouth Germans - Tiger Vaccum Bottle
