Chris Walla & Death Cab News

I`m having mixed feelings about the new Chris Walla album. Its good, but its missing that certain umph to push it into greatness. I also never realized how much input Chris has into the Death Cab songwriting. If Ben (Gibbard) sang all the songs on this album..... this could be a Death Cab album..The production is super slick (which is to be expected) and Mr Walla`s voice isn`t as bad as I thought it would be....I also like how he threw in a few rockers as well.....Speaking Of Death Cab For Cutie, they have a new album coming out this year (Narrow Stairs...hopefully May)...The Cover will look like this.....CN Chris Walla -Sing Again Chris Walla - Geometry & C Death Cab For Cutie - The Sound Of Settling Death Cab For Cutie - Movie Script Ending

Ok so my new favourite store has moved 2 min away from me. Yes its the new American Apparel shop downtown..Some things you may not know about American Apparel (that I found out too).... - the CEO is actually Canadian - they don`t use sweatshops - operates the largest garment factory in the United States - is the largest T-shirt manufacturer - (lots of bands get them to make T-shirts) I`m also going to leave you with all my Nick Drake favourites. Giants.....Out Of Reaches?

So the Giants & Green Bay football game last night was probably the best game I`ve ever seen in my life....Ok, exaggerating a little but you get the point....and playing in -30 below!! So now the Giants are on to the Superbowl, which is awesome. My Dad likes the Giants, so therefore I`m going for them as well....Plus I`m tired of seeing New England in the Superbowl...Move over and let someone else have it this year....I say it like that because the Patriots have an amazing team and will probably win again this year....but I gotta go for the underdog..... Hayden - In Field & Town

So I`ve had a chance to swallow Hayden`s 7th full length album...and I gotta say its not the Folk masterpiece that I thought it would be.....Its actually starts out like a great pop album...then slows down at the end...If I didn`t know any better I wouldn`t even think it was a Hayden record....Yes the lyrics are still a little depressing....with words of loss and heartbreak...But the music is great...Hayden will be in town on the 29th...and I will be there...Hayden was the first Indie concert I ever attended...so its been awhile since I`ve seen him...CN Hayden - Worthy Of Your Esteem Hayden - Streetcar (Live) Hayden - The Hazards Of Sitting Beneath Palm Trees

Von Bondies Photos

Another good show at Call The Office last night...First I was impressed with a band called SSM, who opened the show....a 3 peice from Detroit...they were more of dance/punk outfit...but it was good....The vocals coulda been better... Then The Von Bondies ripped threw a very short and loud set.....with Christmas lights...They played some new material, but I wished they had played more..I did enjoy the old stuff, since this was my first time seeing the Bondies... .....Everything went smooth....untill me and Rick came out to see a flat tire....Shitty....One thing none of us wanted to do was change a flat tire in the middle of Clarence St at 1:00am (after a few beers)....but we changed it in record time....it was like 15 min!!.....All in all...it was another good show....Minus the flat tire...CN The Von Bondies - Pale Bride (<--Pretty Rockin Track) The Von Bondies - Been Swank SSM - Start Dancing SSM - Deja Vu

Router Trouble & An Award!

The Internet around here has been pretty bad over the last few weeks. I finally figured out it was the router after changing all my cables and power bars. But I havn`t had any luck with the damn routers either (I`ve gone threw 3 over the last few weeks) Hopefully I have one that works now. I decided it would be in my best interest to drop a few extra $$ and go with the Linksys Wireless N Router.....Time will only tell if it will be our last.... Cat Power & R.I.P. Evan Farrell

Cat Power aka Chan Marshall is probably the sexiest woman in Indie rock right now......and she has a new album comin out this year. Its a cover album, which are usually Shit, but not here. Every song puts a new twist on the original, and the backing band "Dirty Delta Blues" goes together so well with Cat`s voice....Jukebox is set to drop January 22... I was also sad to hear that former Rogue Waver Evan Farrell passed away during the Christmas break. He apparently passed away from injuries sustained in a house fire in Oakland. Very Sad, especially around the holidays. I think I saw the best acting performance of my life the other day. It was by a Mr. Philip Seymour Hoffman, who plays Gust Avrakotos a C.I.A. op. If you`ve seen the film then you know what scene I`m talking about...(the one where he breaks the Glass) Mr. Hoffman was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Supporting Role...which he better win...A New Years Aftermath! Sons & Daughters - This Gift

I first herd of Sons & Daughters about two years ago. They opened up for Franz Ferdinand at the Kool Haus in Toronto and all I remember is that they blowed my F`ing mind! Their set had me mesmerized, and they played just as good as Franz that night....
