What Do You Know....Oh You Don`t Know Nothing!

Some great things happining this week in the Indie Music world, and lots of things to look forward too...So I`ll kick it off with the news of an expanded tour from Minus The Bear...The band has just announced that they will be expanding there tour to more dates including Canada and more US dates...Me personally will be hopefully joining them when they play St.Andrew`s hall in Detroit...St.Andrew`s Hall is one of my favourite places to see bands (its the great sound I think)....also Chartattack has informed me that Mike O`Neill has formed another 2 peice band...now as some of you might remember, Mike was in the band The Inbreds...I won`t go into my Love of The Inbreds, because we`ll that`s a post in itself....but lets just say I`m a biggg fan...anyway`s Mike`s new band The Self Conscious ,are in the midst of preparing for their live debut for March, when they'll perform alongside The Super Friendz...Mike O`Neill playing alongside The Super Friendz.....baaaaarrrffff...anyway`s definately looking forward to that material...and I will keep you posted when my eyes get more info....Now I picked up some interesting purchases this weekend...#1..I finally grabbed Elliott Smith`s album "Elliott Smith" on vinyl...and it was cheap too...and it sounds fantastic on vinyl..Me and Patricia also bought a strange movie this weekend called The Aristocrats...which at first when I watched it, it didn`t seem like it was going to be that funny ....but then once you get what the joke is all about its actually really funny....and the movie features tons of Comedians like Jason Alexander, Robin Williams, George Carlin, Andy Dick...and many many others...so If you wanna borrow it let us know!....anyway since there was such an abundance of good Indie Rock News....I have decieded to put together an Indie Rock mix...so once again...grab a blank CD (I made the mix as close to 80mb as possible) and enjoy...CN 1-ARTIC MONKEYS = Still Take You Home 2-THE MELIGROVE BAND = Everyone`s A Winner 3-BELLE & SEBASTIAN = Another Sunny Day 4-WE ARE SCIENTISTS = Cash Cow 5-CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH! = Yellow Country Teeth 6-JENNY LEWIS AND THE WATSON TWINS = Big Guns 7-STROKES = On The Other Side 8-FRANZ FERDINAND = I`m Your Villian 9-JOHN VANDERSLICE (LIVE) = Exodus Damage 10-OXFORD COLLAPSE = The Money You Have Maybe Too Little 11-DAYS AWAY = Ideas

Everybody`s Working For The Weekend.....

Ok I know that I usually don`t post on weekends but my goal in the future is to try and profile at least one band on the weekend that you should check out...This weeks choice is one of my favorites actually. Square Root Of Margaret have been around for awhile now...At least the last 6 yrs by my count but judging from there website (and back catalogue) its probably more...I can`t remember how I saw these guys but I know that I saw them for the first time at Call The Office back when I was in high school..And I was addicted from then...I remember after I saw them I rushed home and went on there website to see when they were playing next and as it turned out at the time they were playing a week later at The Wick...So I went to see em again...Now over the years I`ve probably seen em at least a dozen times (since they only tour SW Ont) and its different everytime I go...This band is probably number one on my list of "unappreciated bands"....They`ve had it tough.....A few yrs ago there all there equipment was lost in a tragic fire that destroyed there rehearsal space as well as all there instruments..but they have a new album coming out soon, which is exciting.....Bottom line they rock...and I`ll leave ya with a wack of there songs today...Get it while its hott!..CN Square Root Of Margaret - Time Components Square Root Of Margaret - All Blonde Trees Square Root Of Margaret - Run For The Door Square Root Of Margaret - Angelene Square Root Of Margaret - Kick Me Again (I Love You)

Clap Your Hands And Say Thank God.....Found A New Job!!

Well some great news to share with ya today...First (cause I`ll save the best for last) I read today on the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! MySpace website this little quote talking about the up and coming tour, which made me very happy... "The Boston show on 4/12 sold out really fast, so it is being moved to a larger venue...the same sort of deal might be happening in Toronto" Just as I had hoped actually...Lee`s is an awesome venue don`t get me wrong but the whole tour has been selling it out and Lee`s Palace is too small...So what this hopefully means is that there will be more tix for sale in the future...this is crazy man I can`t believe the growing success of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!...Look at the rest of there tour dates..They have 19 Sold Out shows..so far and its only gonna grow from here...Good for them though, Its just nutz for me to see an Indie band whom no one has ever herd of (or so I thought) and to see them sell out shows..Wow!!... Now for some Great/Sad news...I got a new job today @ Multi-Tech, which is very exciting...Its going to actually be a better oportunity for me, and I can see myself enjoying this a little better then Teletech...I`m going to be doing lots of various computer tasks as well as other things.....The pay is a little better then Teletech and the hrs are going to be Monday-Friday 8-5...which will also be nice to have my weekends back..The sad part is that I`m going to have to depart with the many great people I`ve met threw Teletech. Well I think I found the funniest book ever yesterday....The book is actually called Marley & Me...For those of you who don`t know my dog`s name is Marley, and he is a beagle. The book is also funny because its a story of the worlds worst dog...now Marley isn`t a bad dog....anymore....He used to be a little shit back in the day but he`s calmed down a lot since he hurt his hip...Now music news....I was a little dissapointed yesterday because I`m having no luck getting Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! tickets...apparently they are sold out everywhere...which sucks #1...but #2 is crazy man they went on sale like 3 days ago and are gone now...I didn`t realize the band was sooo popular....The show in Detroit is also Sold out...which is a bummer as well..but I got my fingers crossed that they will open up more tix when the date gets closer or move to a bigger venue...Now I`ve gone through the footage from the Ripoff Artist concert that I went to last week...Now the sound is kinda off a bit and its hard to hear the music in some parts, but its not too bad for such a small video camera..Sorry I don`t know the name of any of the songs but I`m sure I can ask my buddy Steve...So I`ll leave ya with a small video of that concert.... Yes I`ve been away for a bit but I`m back...Lots of crazy stuff went down this weekend with work and stuff...yet I must say the weekend flew by...Lots of Poker involved in the weekend though...No I didn`t win...I`m on a lil bit of a losing streak I guess you could say...Just bad cards...Or good cards but nuthing on the flop to help ya...So I bought my first Hip-Hop LP the other day and its a great one actually. A choice that I thought long and hard about (1 day) before I decided I had to have it..Its the "Clipse" album "Lord Willin" which contain a lot of good tracks actually and it was cheap....especially for a double LP...so I`ll leave ya with a few tracks from that..I must say that Rosco P Coldchain 3rd verse on Cot Damn is pretty disgusting...I love the flow of his rhymes...he`s kinda got that grimey voice...like he`s smoked waay to many in his day...hmm what else..Ok things I will be working on in the future...First I went to see my buddy Steve`s band "Ripoff Artist" the other night @ Call The Office and I brought along my video camera, so I`m just in the process of uploading that and I should have the video link up sometime this week..I`m also thinking of adding a new section to the right that will contain a list of upcoming concerts that I`m going to or want to go to....so hopefully that will be up soon as well....Now for a little history lession...For the last...hmm...I dunno lets say 8yrs. I have wanted A Fender Rhodes...The Fender Rhodes is probably my favourite sound producing instrument...I have wanted one since high school....and since high school...everyone once in a while I`ll go for a little hunt for one...Whenever I check the classifieds I look for one, or when ever I`m on Ebay I`ll do a search for one...There usually too expensive or they don`t ship to Canada...anyway`s I found one...we`ll kinda...its going for cheap right now on Ebay and the drive to pick it up isn`t that far (NY)...so tell me what you think...should I persue this long dream of mine or wait for something better...cause I am getting one before I die...I have to, its just a matter of time...CN Clipse - Cot Damn Clipse - When the Last Time Clipse - Grindin

MY TOP 10 MOVIE/MUSIC SCENES OF ALL TIME!!!!!

Ok as everyone knows..I love music..yeah I know it comes as no surprise...but I also love movies.... So when a movie contains a solid soundtrack its kinda like using a buy one get one free coupon...Not only do you get the enjoyment of the movie but you also get the enjoyment of listening to great music..Its a good deal..So what I`ve done is I`ve racked my brain and came up with my top 10 "Favourite Movie/Music Scenes" which is bascially my favourite movie scenes that have the perfect music to go along with that particular scene...so here it goes....We`ll start off at Number 10..The number 10 spot on our list bring us to the movie Beverly Hills Cop...Now the theme song from Beverly Hills Cop called simply Axel F (click on name to hear song) written by Harold Faltermeyer was probably the soundtrack to my grade school days....I remember walking to school from Beachmount Cres with that song in my head...and I love all the Beverly Hills Cop movies...The song was played probably a gazillion times throughout the series but it always stuck in my head..Its probably the cheesey keyboard is what I love most about the song...Number 9 is the performance of Jim Carrey in the Cable Guy when he sings "Somebody To Love" which was probably the only entertaining scene in the whole movie...but it always makes me laugh...man I should buy that movie actually now that I think about it...it would be worth it for that one song...anyway`s that scene is hilarious and I love Jim Carrey and that song so its a bonus to see him sing it...especially in a comedic way...Number 8 is the movie Swingers..now the movie itself has a lot of great scene`s that feature some great tracks but I`d have to say my favourite scene from that movie is when they all decide to use there own cars to drive to the party/bar.....The song that they drive to is called Pick Up The Pieces by The Average White Band....I just think it is such a cool song which totally goes along with the plot of them being cool taking 5 cars when they could have taken one...jokes!...Number 7 is the ever popular "Paint Can Carrying" scene....which If that doesn`t give it away I don`t know what will....Yes I`m talking about Saturday Night Fever when John Travolta is walking with the camera angle pointing at his shoes and The Bee Gee`s Stayin Alive playing in the background...Now I wasn`t even breathing oxygen when this movie came out but I saw it when I was in Gr 10 in high school and was a fan of The Bee Gee`s from then on...Number 6 is kind of a weird one but the song got me into the band....The scene is from the movie Private Parts and the song is Pinhead by The Ramones...Now when I first watched this movie back in the day I`d herd of the Ramones but I didn`t know what there music sounded like....and then once I did some research and found out it was them I got into the Ramones for a bit....its also funny to see Howard Stern sing along to the begininning of this song...Now for Number 5 ......which is from the movie High Fidelity....The scene takes place in John Cusack`s record store when he turns to Todd Louiso (Jerry Maguire) and says " I will now sell four copies of "The Three EPs" by The Beta Band." ...and then he plays 2 seconds of the track before some other guy in the store turns to him and asks "Who is this?"...its funny because its soo true...and If I had my own record store I would do that all day...Number 4 ..Is taken from The Life Aquatic With Steve Zisso....Bill Murray is hilarious and when him and his scuba team dance to the techno jem of Ping Island /Lightning Strike Rescue Op by Mark Mothersbaugh...I die laughing....I dunno why but I think its hilarious..Especially Bill Murray...he`s just got that sense of humor about him that is so serious but is so funny as well...Number 3 is from The Movie Anchorman...when Ron Burgundy and the rest of the channel 4 news team break out into Afternoon Delight it makes me laugh with tears....The best part about it is that they sing it dead on....with harmonies and everything..like they`ve been singing it for years...They kill it out ...and I kill myself laughing everytime...Number 2 is taken from the Movie Almost Famous...till this day whenever I watch the scene when the whole band is singing Elton John`s Tiny Dancer...I get goosebumps...Cameron Crowe has always been great at making films with awesome music in them...I guess that`s the advantage to being a Rolling Stones Editor for yrs...anyways the scene is important because the band had just gotten into a little fight and it shows that music has the power to bring people together no matter what is going on in our lives and that`s why that scene rocks....and of course Number 1 is from Good Will Hunting...as soon as I herd Between The Bars...By Elliott Smith...I was hooked...Not only was it a phenominal movie but the soundtrack was also awesome...Its the movie that introduced me to my favourite artist and that is why it is number 1....I`ll leave ya with the songs from all these movies...here they are again in order...CN 1-Elliott Smith - I have to say Happy Birthday to my Dad first...So happy Bday Dad!!...Sorry for the late post today but my prioirty for today was took look for a new job first before I made a Blog entry....So first I`ll tell ya about The Superfriendz new album. According to Superfriendzsite the band will be in the studio in late January to record new material..which is very exciting for me becuase I`m the biggest Superfriendz fan on the planet....I also had some time in the last couple days to pick up some old releases....The first one is an old LP of The Strokes first album "Is This It" which is there best album. It sounds really really good on vinyl and it also contains the banned track "NYC Cops" which is a great song and reminds me of when I saw them in concert (it was the first song they opened with when I saw them at The Air Canada center a couple yrs ago)..I also found a copy of "Car Button Cloth" by The Lemonheads which was one of my favourite disks in high school..(I`ll leave ya with a few tracks from that album today)...I`ve been also thinking of composing some more lists in the future...Ex. The Diableros The DiablerosOxford CollapseWe Are ScientistsWe Are ScientistsWe Are Scientists Well the other night I had the privledge of watching the We Are Scientists and The Diableros at The Horseshoe in Toronto...I left London at around 7 and arrived in Toronto to find a parking spot on Queen street and met up with Kinger and his gf Kelly around the merch booth where soon after The Diableros hit the stage..I was excited about seeing them actually and I must say they didn`t dissapoint...although they really didn`t blow my hair back either...I enjoyed the songs, they definatly had potential, but there stage precience was kinda boreing and the sound was off in some songs...all in all they played well...The Oxford Collapse took the stage next which was an interesting act to watch...I must say that they put on an "interesting" live show but nuthing I could see myself getting into...some of the songs had different sections of them that I enjoyed but I really just found myself watching the drummer....he was really good...then the We Are Scientist`s came out to a patient crowd at around 12:30 and played for about a good hour...I must say that for a 3 peice band they sound like there`s 5 members...The sound was dead on and the band played really tight with lots of energy...You can tell that they just kicked off the tour and where excited to play every song for the egear crowd...the slower songs kinda dragged on a bit but the commentary by the bassist Chris was hilarious and entertaining to say the least...awesome start to my 2006 concert season...speaking of concerts I learned that the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! will be touring to Toronto in April so I`ll have to add that to my ever growing list of bands that I wanna see...Now 24 ...man the episode was freaking smoking tonight...I couldn`t believe what happened to some of the main charachters in the first 5 min...crazy shit man...I can`t believe what they come up with...but I loooove it...Jack`s back baby!!...Jack`s back...I still can`t swallow the TV experience I had tonight...Now I totally raped Dr Disk the other day and picked up a lot of old material..I`ll leave ya with some tracks from Radioblaster`s, Listen Closer...which has some great fuzz guitar numbers....here`s the list of music I grabbed (btw all these cost around $20 in total with the 70% off!!!)....CN VINYL Heart-Dreamboat Annie Simon & Garfunkle - Bridge Over Troubled Water Beach Boys - Greatest Hits The Monkees - Greatest Hits Supertramp - Breakfast In America Micheal Jakson - Thriller CD Radioblaster-Listen Closer Square Root Of Margaret-Endless Rotation Radioblaster - Last Call Home Radioblaster -All I Hate Radioblaster -Heat Score

The Scene Is Dead ....But I`m Still Restless

I once herd from someone, somewhere that The London Free Press writes a majority of its articles on a level that an 8-10 yr old would be able to understand...Now I don`t know if this is true or not but its always been kinda funny to me because London is a University town...Think about it ...Our town contains one of the biggest and most prestigious University`s in southwestern Ontario and our "Big" newspaper writes on the level of a child...c`mon!...Regardless The London Free Press has become almost a daily read...My Dad has been getting it in the mornings sometimes and I then take it to work and read it while I listen to people lose there minds because they can`t attach a picture of there dog in an e-mail....Rambling again..Sorry...The reason I bring up the LFP is cause I saw two interesting things that I would like to share with yah...#1- A CD review of Mew`s new album And The Glass Handed Kites..Which is an album that was listed in my top albums of 2005...I mean good for the paper to finally review an Indie album...Usually I`m reading about how Rocktastic Nickelback`s next album is gonna be...even though the CD came out months ago..better late then ever I say...Next clipping I would like to show ya is my horoscope for 2006 which I found kinda humorous....(click on pic to see it bigger)I was lucky enough to grab my hands on a ticket for this Saturday`s We Are Scientists/The Diableros show in T.O....thanks Patricia for picking that up for me...I will be attending the show with N.I.R.`s editor and chief Mr Kinger and his significant other.....Should be fun...And a great start to my 2006 concert season....I will leave yah with a song that I posted awhile ago on here but I feel as though I should post it again since it was featured in tonight`s O.C. episode at the graduation photo scene..The song is California by Rogue Wave...Which is funny because I was wondering when The O.C. was gonna start playing a Rogue Wave song..Which is also ironic because my better half also grabbed Rogue Wave/Nada Surf tickets tonight...CN Rogue Wave - California Rogue Wave - California (Live..thanks to So Much Silence)

Today was the day that I thought I`d teach myself how to input Video from the digital video camera onto my laptop and convert it into a wmv file...So I thought I`d get infront of the drums and beat on the skins for 2 min to see if it would work...and it did....now I still have to work on getting the quality up to speed but here`s the first attempt...
